"Can I kick it?"

AA

The footy season is almost upon us! Yay.
I know this may not be of any interest to some of you overseas but for us Brits this is a big deal.

Anyway, after the little spat going on in the record-busting comments section of the last post, I thought it time for all us footy types to nail our colours to the post & to stick our necks out.
Predictions then:

Your own club's position
Premiership winners
Championship winners
League 1 winners
League 2 winners
FA cup winners
Who will do best in Europe?

Let's be having you!
Assuming we are still here at the end of next May we can see who knows the beautiful game the best, eh?

I'll start us off then

Leeds United will finish 2nd in the Championship winning automatic promotion

Prem - Chelsea
Champ- Norwich City
League 1 - Nottingham Forest
League 2 - Northampton town
FA Cup - Spurs
Europe - Chelsea

I do also expect Liverpool to have a very good season & I can see them upsetting the Arse & the Mancs.

Bring it on then, Footy's back!!!!!!

OK - Obviously Chelsea will win the Premiership. (How close did I just come to saying the "EPL"!!! Damn you Fox Soccer Channel and your AmericaniSation of my game)

    Championship - Southampton
    League 1 - Nottingham Forest
    League 2 - Bristol

    FA Cup - Liverpool
    Champions League - Real Madrid

I'd like to see us finish in the top 7, but will be happy with a top 10 place.
As much as I hate to say it
    Chelsea for the title.
Division1 (I refuse to call it the championship) - Ipswich, they've been pretty close the last few seasons.
Division2 - I'm fond of Forest so I'd like them to go up but I think they'll have a season down there before so my prediction is Gillingham as I have a local bias.
Division3 - I have to say Shrewsbury or STF will me mad at me!

Ideally Charlton will win the FA cup but I think it may be between Arsenal and Chelsea.

I'd like Everton to win Champions League! That would amuse me very, very much.

My team will finish second in the Premiership, hopefully nearer than last year.

    Premiership - Chelsea
Championship - Wolverhapmton Wanderers (Norwich and Leicester to go up)
League One - Bristol City (Yeovil and Forest to go up)
League Two - Northampton Town (Boston and Barnet to go up)

Champions League - Chelsea. I think it's their turn and I'd love to see an all English final.

and I'd stick a speculative fiver on Everton or Bolton to be relegated from the Premiership.

Leeds? play-off heartache. Ha ha ha ha ha.

    right:

    premiership: chelsea

championship: norwich (although I wouldn't be surprised if none of the relegated sides finished top)

league one: bristol city (forest!? no chance!)

league two: northampton (town of my birth)

    FA Cup: Man Utd

    European Cup: Juve

    Sherpa Van Trophy 1988: Wolves

Ah Wolves. My shower of shit are amongst the favourites again this year, and in a fit of early season optimism, I'll plump for 7th.

Has Nottingham Forest really dropped down to League 1? Oh, alas. My poor trees.

I've not watched footy since I left Britain, but I'm going to say Leeds taking the Premiere league just for old times' sake.

Seems like an appropriate time for my first 'official' comment (ta for the welcome, Flash).
For my sins, and by virtue of my birthplace - my team are Stoke City. They'll be lucky to scrape to safety in the Championship if their pre-season displays are anything to go by...but I'll give them an optimistic 11th place.

Premiership: Chelsea (hey - we beat them in the League Cup final in 1972, you know)

Championship: Norwich (no real reason - just think they might do it & I love Delia's enthusiasm)

League 1: Tranmere (because Chris Greenacre is back to his natural level and will surely do a fine job for them...and thank goodness he's not trying to do any kind of a job for us anymore)

League 2: Wrexham (good old Dennis Smith)

FA cup: Man Utd (because they've signed our 3rd choice goalie, who never played a first team match all the time he was at Stoke)

Europe: Chelsea (did I mention '72...?)

can I just add that I think it is OBSCENE that we are thinking about football when we have four tests of an Ashes summer in front of us.... when the premiership kicks off, I will be at Old Trafford... the proper Old Trafford... getting gently sozzled and watching the aussies giving us their traditional hiding in the 3rd test.

    sigh

"Leeds taking the Premier League just for old times sake".

Ka, you have been away a long time, haven't you?....!!!!

and I saw Forest a couple of times at the back end of last season and they were absolute shite. Don't assume that because they're the biggest club in that league they are going to bounce straight back....

Can't believe all these people predicting Forest to have a good season. We were awful last season (not even good enough for the third division in my opinion) and we haven't been much better pre season.
    Prem Chelsea
    Championship Crystal Palace
    League 1 Hartleepool
    League 2 Torquay
    FA Cup Arsenal
    Champions League Juventus

I have been away a long time, it's true. I have no idea what league Leeds is playing in anymore (still Premiere?), and the last time I paid attention, Nottingham was 19th in the Premiere League and destined for demotion (which apparently happened...).

That's it, I'm moving back to Britain.

    Poor Ka.
Leeds are suffering in the 1st division (now the championship) and not doing very well.
Forest got relegated from the premiership and last season relegated from the 1st division, they are suffering very badly.

  • At 10:35 pm, Blogger swisslet said…

it's not that they're suffering very badly as much that they are *playing* very badly....

premiere league? once was a typo, but twice?

Or I'm a silly idiot. From Canada. Where there aren't "premierships" or whatever you call them. Where we play hockey like civilized people. Except we don't, because the strike only just ended after a full season of hockeylessness. But you know what I mean.

Leeds is in 1st! My god. My poor cousins.

Wait, Ka, is hockey back this year?! Tell me it's true...

Of course, knowing me, I'll go to one live game and my new obsession with hockey will end.

    Nearly missed this...

Leeds my team. Play-offs and promotion. Anything less and it's bye-bye Blackwell (if he hasn't already gone by crimbo)

    Premiership - Chelscum
    Championship - Norwich
League 1 - No idea, as long as it isn't Huddershite Town
League 2 - No idea again...
    FA Cup - Chelscum
    Champions League - Chelscum

PS Charby if you refuse to call the Championship "Championship" why call it Division 1 when surely it should be really be Division 2 ;-)
